While being built as a symbol of modern urban development, Belgrade Waterfront is simultaneously investing in the preservation of the capital’s cultural and historical heritage. Four significant buildings of Belgrade’s architecture – the old Railway Bridge, The Bristol Belgrade, the Milan Vapa’s Paper Mill and the old Post Office – are getting a new life through the renovation carried out by Belgrade Waterfront. The bridge from 1884 becomes a pedestrian promenade, Bristol has already returned to its old glory and today once again adorns the heart of Savamala, the former factory becomes the Nikola Tesla Museum, while the old Post Office takes on a new role as the Archaeological Museum of Serbia and the home of theatre stages – all in the service of preserving the heritage and creating the modern cultural identity of the city.
Each of these buildings tells the story of Belgrade as it was, but also of Belgrade as it is becoming, of a city that looks to the future, without forgetting its rich tradition. Watch a short movie which reminds us that a city that respects its heritage has a solid foundations for the future.
